Welcome The Brown and Serve Scrolls Podcasts
It seems that a lot of people have bought into the idea that spirituality and religion are just no fun. And that God, in whatever way we tend to understand God, doesn’t have a sense of humor.
Well, I am convinced that nothing could be further from the truth than that idea. So, this podcast series is devoted to presenting a very unusual and humorous collection of revamped stories, based on the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. I hope you find them to be amusing, enjoyable, and entertaining.
And by the way, while you’re listening, you might find some insights and perspectives about life that you may not have considered otherwise.
Episode 1 - The Origin of The Brown and Serve Scrolls and The Creation Story - Chapters 1, 2, and 3
This opening episode of the Brown and Serve Scrolls Podcast Series contains two sections:
The Origin of the Brown and Serve Scrolls
This is a "factual" account of how a collection of ancient Biblical Archeological Documents were discovered in a kosher delicatessen in Miami Beach.
The Creation Story
Chapter 1 - "It All to Start Somewhere" is loosely based on the first part of the creation narrative found in the book of Genesis and deals with some very interesting thoughts about how and why the creation may have come about.
Chapter 2 - "What Went Wrong?" is a story which picks up right after the creation is finished, when everything is perfect. But as it turns out, in the midst of perfect, something goes wrong.
Chapter 3 - "Now What Do We Do?" pretty much says it all, as we come to the close of this creation narrative.

Episode 2 - The Fruit of Violence - Chapter 4 of the Creation Story
In this episode Adam and Eve have been banished from the Garden of Eden and taken up residence in the real world. This story tells about how they begin to make their way in life without perfection and how, because of a rivalry between their sons, Cain and Abel, violence first comes into the creation.

This narrative recounts how God, who, after several generations, is pretty fed up with humanity and has a long conversation with God’s Self. The upshot of that conversation becomes a restart on humanity after a really big rainstorm.

In this Episode God has a conversation with God’s Self (The Trinity) about how to deal with humanity’s failure to change its ways and become more self-giving, compassionate, and committed to making the whole creation what God planned in the beginning. The upshot of this conversation becomes God’s new plan to build a model human community starting with one person, Abram, Abraham, or Whatever His Name Was.

Episode 5 - Abraham and God – Conversation, Covenant, Circumcision, and Negotiation
In this Episode, God has a conversation with God’s self (The Trinity) about how and why humanity doesn’t seem to be on board with being self-giving, compassionate, and committed to helping make the whole creation what was planned in the beginning. So, God then has a conversation with Abraham about the two of them entering into an agreement (covenant and circumcision) that will make Abraham the example and leader of a new, positive, and helpful kind of humanity. Finally, since Abe has agreed to the covenant and, reluctantly to circumcision, he and God have one more conversation. This time, it’s a negotiation about how God plans to deal with Sodom and Gomorrah.
